Hey KT,

I have decided to create a new SBI WvW guild named Make It [RAIN] with some friends. I am the guild leader. The guild is made up of players who have stayed on SBI after their guilds or friends have decided to move on, it's for people who enjoy all forms of WvW. It includes people from guilds including pH, KWBH, HERO, Abyss and HOST.

I just want everyone to know that this doesn't mean I am leaving KT. But I have a chance to try and make a difference to the server and I don't want to be someone who gave up that chance. I don't relish being a leader at all but I want to challenge myself. I've learned so much from KT leadership and that will help me a lot.

While I get get things off the ground I won't be able to rep KT as much and I will really hate that. But I'll always be here for KT and contribute my fair share because this is where my friends/family are.

PK.

I hope you succeed Pocket. I know I (we) didn't in GW1 and, probably as a direct result of that, therefore was less motivated to try again in GW2. I did try however, but gave up quite quickly. I know you can't make people play a game the way you want to play it, so the only thing you can do is try somewhere else. It will lead to less frustration overall, but most importantly, for yourself. I know all of the drama and bullshit surrounding MMO's in general, and the different interests and skill levels of people playing these games has put me off team based multiplayer gaming for quite a number of years now, even though when it's good, it's probably the best thing there is.

I hope no one will hold this against you or see it as something negative, and I'm almost positive they won't, because just as you can't train or make people play WvW the way you envision it, they can't make you NOT want that and force you to play it in a way that doesn't satisfy you. So I wish you all the luck in the world and I sincerely hope you succeed. I can be a negative nancy sometimes, cause mostly my attempts failed, but it would be great to see someone succeed. Perhaps that would make me more optimistic about team based multiplayer gaming in general again as well.

Lastly, I don't think you should regret not being able to rep KT, or at the very least not feel bad about it. I know there have been many attempts since launch to create more structured forms of WvW within KT, ranging from running team builds to creating KTX, but none of them were succesfull, so it seems the majority of people in KT during the last two years (not targeting anybody specific here) were not interested in more structured WvW, or as you say, to make a difference on the server (and actually putting in the effort required to do so). So... yeah... don't feel bad, and good luck!

Hey Pocket,
Gotta admit, it was with a sense of shock and a heavy heart that I read your letter. Not by any means that I think that you shouldn't go. It's a worthy goal and I have every confidence that you'll be an excellent leader. I admire you for taking it on, and I wish you great success.
I was reflecting that, for me, it's kinda like seeing my talented, well prepared young adult "child" head off into to the world to do great things. Sure, they'll be back from time to time, and holidays will be awesome, but still....end of an era. Seems to me the progression of life often entails joy and sorrow at the same time.
Even though I am somewhat peripheral in the guild, I will miss you. Thank you for the many contributions you made, both in tangible things like terrific contests, explorations of builds and strategies, and a willingness to lend a hand, and also for your wisdom and guidance in turbulent times.
So, with a smile plastered on my face, and hope in my heart, I wish you the best!

Wraith and I were going through old videos of RAIN and I was getting emotional watching them back T_T

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL6X7LGxxVEoG_k_E-XKV9sQUFYiVSGmP7

You can see our improvement over the ~5 months we existed. Video 1 is everyone learning what it means to be part of a team. By video 5 we are able to dominate a map queue of enemy pugs and survive for long periods in a garrison capture. Video 9 probably shows us at out best, with TS filled with skill calls, co-ordination and efficiency while we beat enemy guild groups. I think we could have been even better with time.

People don't always realise what goes on behind the scenes to create this, especially when you are doing it with a group of people who don't play the game competitively. But at the same time it requires everyone in the group to take on instructions, listen to feedback and execute. A lot of people in KT were are part of this so just wanted to share.

It's been a lot of fun watching those videos again since Wraith posted them in the shout box. You all did a really great job - not just at uniting your loyal server-mates, but at kicking ass while doing it. I'm glad I was part of it, even though I probably wasn't the best warrior in the squad. (Really wish we had squads then.)

Love it. It's always a good time to make it rain. Especially when we're green.

haha coincidentally i showed pocket that spot where it rains and you step two feet away and its sunny last night. i wonder if others get that reference to making it rain when we are green! the guild was definitely something special, some of the best memories gaming to date for me. run #9 is by far my favourite, everyone calling skills, running super tight, such a well oiled machine by then.
