I thought I'd get my feet wet again "commanding" so I am looking for members to join me in WvW!
I ask that you bring a lvl 80 that YOU feel comfortable playing. Know your stuns, condi cleanses, blasts, etc. Don't be afraid to call out skill that would benefit the team. Watch your party members health bars and stick together tight before a fight.

We will be having guest tonight [RAGE] so make them feel welcome. Some of their members joined us for guild missions last week and they seem like a good group. We will queue in for EB so be quick on your toes to join the map. Queues fill up quick on reset night so make sure you are ready by 8:00pm central.

This is reset night - the cluster fuck night of all nights. I want us to be able to enjoy each other and hopefully make it an enjoyable experience that won't lead to my face bouncing on my keyboard.

WHEN: TONIGHT!!! RESET!! 8:00 PM Central
WHERE: EB - Hang out in LA before reset pops if you like

That's 9:00pm EST for those people who live within a timezone that actually matters. :)

Nice work Yitsi, we had some really good fights.

Sharing some of my thoughts if anyone cares. I feel like we prepare for WvW as a team but don't actually play as one:

  • We set up frontline/backline but don't actually play in that way.
  • We set up parties but don't stick together.
  • We spend time trying to get a commander party sorted out but when I look at my mini map there are blue dots all over the map.
  • We have a leader and put a target on them but people squirrel and make their own decisions on where to be and what to do.
  • We talk about what professions bring to WvW, good skills to use, the importance of food/oil and the importance of running a level 80... but all that goes out of the window because of the above.
  • We ask people to get in TS so they can listen to where the commander is and what is going on but... we don't follow the commander o_O

Being part of a team has less to do with your profession, your character level, your ability or your knowledge of the game, it's more about your mentality and putting the team above yourself.

But why go through the charade of setting up as a team when we don't play like one?

Those are some excellent points to consider, Pocket. I feel as though your thoughts are quite on point. Thank you for sharing. Hopefully we can use this as an opportunity to do some self-reflection and really consider what you've mentioned, and share some of those thoughts and goals for the future here on the forums.

There are some excellent points made my Pocket, and I've spoken with a number of people about ways we can improve. If I feel it's appropriate I might discuss a few things during missions this week, if not I will try and do so before next reset.

There's a lot we need to figure out guild wise, and I think we need to really ask our members what is they want out of WvW before some of us (me in particular) try to force people into something they might not enjoy.
