I have decided to finally pursue a legendary weapon after years of saying I would/could never afford it. I was stoked about the crafted precursor helping to bring down the cost until I finally found a solid accounting of what it takes to get that precursor, so now I'm not so sure its feasible anymore.

Looks like the crafted precursor is still cheaper than the purchased one, but it is not free by any means. Looks like I will be on this road for quite awhile even with my stockpile of crafting materials.

Has anyone done this that would have any advice?

I'm actually also pursuing The Juggernaut, and have been for quite a while, so I definitely know what you mean about the long journey, heh.

For me, it seems like the most painful part is the precursor and the Silver Doubloons. The rest you eventually get over time, or can get in a consistent way.

My best suggestion would be to try to save some gold from everything that you do. I have a pocket guild that I put a bit of gold away into every time I earn any. It's kind of like saving in real life, where you should be putting a certain percentage away from every paycheck. ;)

You've already got the right mindset (that it will be a long journey), so just enjoy the game in the meantime and save whatever you can while playing it. :)

Keep us updated on your progress (both of you). Usually when someone's getting close to finishing a legendary with annoying stuff like silver doubloons everyone starts pitching in to help out.

True story. Hoshi, along with a few others, has already helped me out immensely, particularly with the lodestones (thanks! :)). And I've thrown a number of t6 mats toward a few others who have been working on legendaries, to pass along the kindness, heh. It's the KT way. ;)

Good way to farm Silver Doubloons is to park level 21-30 characters at jumping puzzle chests. I used to get 3-5 Silver Doubloons a week doing this with 3 characters. I will help you guys out by parking my PvP characters at jumping puzzles from tonight.

OMG I hadnt even looked at the price of the stupid doubloons. I cant believe that is still an ingredient at that price. There is NO way to consistently farm them but they require 250, Im really surprised in all these years Anet hasnt changed the amount or the source.

Well like PK said, if you've got a free slot you can park a low leveled toon at a JP. You can also toss low level jewels into the forge for a chance (nuggets & pebbles). Beyond outright farming the gold for them, that's pretty much the only way to "farm" them - and even then, it's unfortunately up to RNG.

So...I've got my entire second account parked at the end of the pirate JP farming doubloons. Five characters between 20-25. If you and Clock want to give me a character name, I can mail half the drops to one of you and half to the other. I'm not really making that much off them and I'd rather send them to you two.

Dodger, that's extremely kind of you. Make sure that everything you send goes to Raven, though. I don't mind taking my time with it. :)

You are all too kind. Thank you for the support. I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for ways to repay the kindness
