So, some of you may know, or may not (I know the new has spread to british newspapers at least) that we have a raging fire up about 5 hours north of me. Now, I'm of course in no danger, but a smaller city of which I have family has been completely evacuated, and most of it has been completely destroyed (I believe only the downtown core remains). So just putting out a friendly request, that if anyone has a little extra cash kicking around this month, it wouldn't hurt to send some this way to help with all the cleanup and rebuild that will be occuring. Thanks for any help anyone can contribute. If my leg was in a better state, I'd be right up there helping with the cleanup. Anyways, some links for you :)

So far there has been no casualties, and my cousin made it to the city fine (currently staying in a hotel) but their dad is still up north in one of the oilfield camps waiting for transportation here. So far my cousin has been lucky, as his home is in the downtown core, and as of yesterday he was still able to access his security cameras in his place and it was still standing with little damage on the screen anyways.

One of my friends (and his family) lives in Fort Mac, and were there when it happened. Luckily they were able to evacuate and are fine.

Also, it's been great to see the outpouring of support, thus far. :)

I'm glad your friend and his family are safe Clock, and hopefully their place is still intact when they get back.

As fkr the support, this is what alberta does. For all the flack we get, and I'll admit I send some of it out too, when something like this happens you see just how helpful we can be as a province. And all the extra support coming from everywhere else is amazing. I mean, Mexican firefighters showed up to help. Now, I thought it kinda funny at the time, due to the things that actually go on up there (for anyone unfamiliar, this city has a very big drug problem), but still great to see happen, as all the extra hands are helping as best as they can.

So, as of a report I read earlier today, unless we get some decent rain up there (which isn't in the forcast) there is no way of stopping it until we do.

Can't you blow it over to 'Murica?

Only until Trump builds (well, gets us to build and pay for) his wall. We're working with a time limit. :/

Thinking of you guys up there.

Don't let them build a wall; then we can't escape the post-Trump 'Murca.

Apparently Labatt's stopped canning beer and started canning water to send up in support. Pretty cool.

We've canned beer for the Americans before, so it was an easy switch. ;)
