Lol I don't want to discourage people with these questions. The idea is to think about your character. Many of these questions can be answered with simple 1 word answers. You can go into as much or as little detail as you'd like. Since I will be doing a more living world idea than just a straight story, these questions help me immensely in generating content for all players. Be forwarned though, 1 or 2 random questions per player I will as for more depth. So just because you say your parents are alive doesn'the mean I won't want more info on them. But I'll go more into it on Saturday. Also, my phone really socks for typing replies lol

I had tried to link this auto character sheet during the meeting but ended up linking my own copy of it. https://drive.google.com/previewtemplate?id=1LcnTaz2oalJGr0H7e7g5DdI1EqQRK0-P2Ra9v1WiLrQ&mode=public&ddrp=1#

Just create a copy in your own drive and you can play around with it. Though i think the PCGen tool may be easier for those it works for.

This sheet takes some time to fully understand and digest, it allows you to define a staggering number of elements including equipment modifiers to your stats. The fundamental character sheet will just calculate your stats and class skills etc based on what you pick in the drop downs, but it has a full "database" behind it to auto fill in spell information and DC values etc. I probably spent 5 hours messing with it before I started to understand how it all worked together, it is quite overwhelming.

Wanted to give everybody a heads-up on PCGen. There's a little glitch in the app that I noticed with my character whereby Feats don't add their modifiers to associated Skills.

In my case, I have the Alertness feat. This gives +2 to Perception and Sense Motive skill checks, and +4 with ten or more ranks in those skills. Unfortunately that +2/+4 isn't calculated in the Skill Total of the Skills tab for those particular skills.

Just wanted to let everybody know, so if you're playing, and your character is making a roll against a skill that also has a feat modifier you'll have to add it in manually. Of course it could be a glitch with the Alertness feat alone, but I thought everybody should know.

Good to know. I'll take a look at all the sheets this weekend to see if there is any other discrepancies like that.

Mine seemed to be adding in correctly but I did have one time when it wasn't carrying over after it previously had, I think I reloaded the character and it was suddenly working again.

We'll just have to keep an eye on it. I had been having issues with visual corruption where the screen would suddenly start popping a second glitchy image of the ui in front of the program, which could only be corrected by restarting it and hoping it wouldn't happen again lol. I think I finally resolved it by setting it to run as administrator, knock on wood.

Just letting everyone know in here, there is a new thread posting for those interested in writing up stories for their characters and their adventures before the game began. Or whatever you want to write about. Please keep that thread clean of all questions and such, keep them in this thread please.

So, just a couple of quick notes about the other thread:

If you want to write about stories about your character, their hometown, ect, this world is still pretty open and free reign, so with very little built up on it yet, we can build towns and such to our character's likings. All I ask for those is you give me a quick run down of the points of interest in the story so I can adjust them to suit the world history I have created thus far.

Also, feel free to write stories from a particular region and such to expand the knowledge base. I completely welcome that. Just, once again run things past me to make sure it doesn't conflict with history that I have developed.

Aside for that, things are pretty open. Since I have alot of work ahead for myself, once the story gets going I probably won't be posting up as much side stories like the ones I plan on doing over the coming weeks, but I encourage if anyone wants to post something up, fire me a quick email with the basics and we'll get it up for ya. And don't worry about writing skill. I think Vidar is the only pro writer here, so aside for him I expect things to be written as best as people can do. And remember, this is an extra thing. If you don't want to do it you don't have to. If you want to do it, but are having a hard time, either writing it or just getting some ideas flowing for how to write it, feel free to come to me and we can go over the idea, and maybe get some concepts flowing for your writing energies. Anyways, that will probably be my last posting about the other thread for now, unless people have questions :P

Hey Sero, was wondering if you wouldn't mind making your digital drawings available for the write-ups so I can include them in those posts? Maybe toss them in the Pathfinder resources shared folder in your google drive?

We have been experimenting with Roll20 in my other game and find it quite good. Free accounts can do just about everything that paid accounts can do. It offers a game board with a grid, fog of war layers for the DM, Tokens for the characters so you can move them around the board, and you can force turn order in an initiative phase. You can upload a map or image to act as a background, and can do a little monkeying to get it to line up with the grid.

The pathfinder character sheets are pretty complicated so I would stick with our current use of PCGen and having them local, but everything else we need can be done in Roll20 for free.

It has integrated dice rolling, and if you click 2 boxes in the settings when you join the game you can have 3d virtual dice that actually roll across the screen. you can save dice roll macros fairly easily as well.

when you first create a game you are taken to the game board as a DM, and it walks you through a tutorial which does a pretty good job of explaining the features and how to run the game as a DM. The board functions similarly to photoshop for the DM, with multiple layers that you can interact with. The players exist on the token layer, and the DM can move items from the DM layer to the token layer with a click, and clear or apply fog of war to specific areas. All players can also draw on the map or ping the map with a radar like temporary effect.

The main advantages of a paid account is for DMs, and allows uploading of more images and resources, and allows the use of dynamic lighting. if you take the time to preload all of the maps, and draw on them where the light sources should penetrate, then the players can be set up to emit light based on their vision distance, and they will only be able to see what their token can see as they move it around. you can even enforce line of sight so that players couldnt see around corners. It looks amazing when it is put into use, but takes some time for the paid DM to set up. The fog of war is pretty effective in the free accounts, but obviously allows the entire party to see anything revealed at the time.
