Thanks! My first foray as well. This will be a big help.
There's more than one right way.

I will be around as often as I can. I might wind up being one of those visiting characters you mentioned on TS last night - my school schedule has gone a little bit insane lately.

Completely understandable. Thats why I thought up the idea, so that people who know they won't be able to attend sessions regularly can still participate and have fun. I'm drawing up a few things this week that I should have ready by the 10th for the guest characters, as there is a little more work involved so to speak on the character development. Basically, you wouldn't have a character sheet per se. Also, if there comes a time that you could join regularly, we can do up a character sheet that would be equivalent for rough levels for the rest of the group, so you don't lag behind. Anyways, the idea sounds confusing at first, but once I have things written out it will make way more sense.

Seems logical enough. I'm posting now while I listen to the five hours of lecture footage I have to weed through this week. If I could play D&D while I did that...I'd be all in! hahaha

I think we are going to need some Time zone conversions here lol. We are on mountain standard so attendance could be difficulty for those of us with families and living on the west coast. It looks like 6pm EST is going to be 3pm for us, which means kido is still awake etc.

We are 2 hours behind EST and 3 hours behind when daylight savings is in effect. =(

I'm in mountain as well, so I can make conversions easy for you :P It will be 4 pm. The reason I wanted to start this early allows for incorporation of people across the time zones, and it takes time for character generation and such, far more time than it will take to play a session. Now, this is just for character designs and such, there won't be any actual play done on this day. We'll start in October, so people have time to familiarize themselves with their characters and such. As for the time frame, for that day at least, just come when you are able. I'll be in TS all evening, and I have a feeling most characters will take a few hours to put together, basing this off past experiences on character creation. So come in when you're able, and then from there we can work on figuring out a time that would work for you well for the first session.

It sounds like blondie is going to take our little one on a hike that day so I should be clear to participate, just looking ahead a bit. Once we have characters and a roster of who is playing, we can discuss best game time etc. as you said.

Looking forward to it.

And as an FYI we are in Arizona, which thinks it is funny to not observe Daylight savings at all. So for us it actually is 3pm, but yes all others in our zone will be 4pm.

Yes the amount of interest is quite surprising, could end up having an entire adventuring army lol.

Oh god. And Army.......That reminds me of one of my games, where my friend was great at persuading peasants into a revolt and had a peasant army. Also, his speeches were the worst ever, but he kept getting natural hits on his roles of persuasion. It was rather entertaining.

Also, he was a dark paladin lol.

In an evil campaign a friend of ours recently motivated an entire army of paladins and townsfolk to storm a holy city and attack the temple because he was able to convince them that a false god had usurped the true god, which they of course were the true representatives of. In reality they had caused the massacre, and were serving an evil god who wished to unseat this other god. And the great dark plague that they had gone from town to town preaching about and warning the people to flee from, yeah they started that when their necromancer proto-lich party member had animated an entire pasture of diseased cows. slooowwwly shambling over the countryside killing everything in their path lol.

See, thats cool. Ours was literally, "Don't you see you're being oppressed." when of course there was no oppression happening. And then "Follow me for your freedom." They then attempted to storm a local lord's house that was doing nothing but eating an evening meal.

My favorite so far has been "You gave a torch. To a pyromaniac goblin. How did you THINK that was going to end?"

This was right after my character had thrown a vial of oil down the stairs, intending to light the room on fire. Our paladin thought it was a better idea to advance into the oiled staircase because he thought we would burn up whatever was down there, turned out to be skeletons. He told the goblin to hold the torch while he did, slipped on the oil, fell down the stairs, and yea......

Blondie learned that rapiers don't help against skeletons, and the party learned that no one had any bludgeoning weapons except for the local guard who walked away deciding we were the worst band he had ever seen.

In preparation for Saturday, I'm posting a link to a site that has 27 character questions. I was looking for a much shorter list, but these can get so in depth and would work great for various story components that I will request everyone answer them after they create their character. You'll have lots of time to work on it between now and our start story date, which will be in Oct, so for this week just think about the questions. Any questions about it, feel free to contact me :)
