So, I have a decent amount of free time available over the next little while, so here are the suggestions that I think would work best for our group. I've attached links for the best description pages of the following games for people to make their decisions with, so don't just vote for what you've played before, but what you think will be the most enjoyable/fun game to play.

Dungeons and Dragons

Pathfinder

Vampire: The Masquerade

7th Sea

I didn't really see any other posting about game systems yet, although we can consider another system if people wanna try it, but these are the 4 that I think we would have our best chance with (also because I have 3 of the 4 games rulebooks on my comp somewhere, and I mean almost all the rulebooks lol). The worlds will most likely be different that the game settings describe, so just kinda look at the game design elements, as opposed to their settings. Any questions, please feel free to ask :)

Ok, so I'm assuming everyone that had interest voted (as I only counted 5 people aside for myself. Not a bad little group), and looking at the results, since I don't want my vote to be a big decider unless its an even amount of votes, if the person who voted for Pathfinder could PM me their choice of either D&D 5th or Vampire so I can call the vote that would be great, since at this time if I was to vote to break the tie, well, I think a few of you know the direction I'd go lol.

Might want to give it another few days once the site is back up and running since it went down without warning for 3+ days. Just making a note for when we're back up and running.

Oh of course. I know that there is actually 1 more person who needs to vote on top of the other votes. I have figured out who that is and did talk with them a bit in whisp last night, but not going to finalize anything yet until they get a chance to look over things a bit more.

Ok so, with one more person at least interested, calling a vote on Pathfinder, that puts at 3 all around. Still waiting on the 1 other person to vote (This is just an update. No need to panic lol) or anyone else that might be interested, but this does put the 3 games in a tie at this point. I'm going to let the poll run until saturday, and if we're still at a 3 way tie I will call the game. Even if its a game that you didn't care for playing, I'd strongly encourage you to try it for a few sessions, as how some people do the games can be very different than how I run them (especially since I hate to focus on stats lol).

I play the pathfinder adventure card game and I really like the lore that I've seen. I did look at a Pathfinder book in a game store once and saw some really cool classes so I would be interested in that for sure!

I'm good with Pathfinder if no one else comes along to tip the scales.

I'd be fine with Pathfinder, too. Consider my vote switchable if that helps make a decision.

Well, since it seems people want to change votes over to Pathfinder (why no love for the werewolves and vampires 😥) I've started uploading the books I have onto a separate google drive, and once those core books are uploaded I'll post up links for those books, preferably in an area that is only accessible to guildies on the forums here (might just do PMs too), just so that we don't have people who visit the forums but aren't actual members accessing those books and then having them taken down. Anyways, the core books will be ready tomorrow. Please take a browse through them, and if you already have a character idea in mind, feel free to run it past me. I'd like to have any characters coming to the table to have a bit of backstory (ie. about half a page or so) just to give a bit more info on the character. This will actually help generate some of the story, since character history can be a big thing. Now, I do have far more books than what everyone will have access to, because there is no sense in loading everything up, but for race specific books for lore and such, I can easily add those into the list for specific races people want to play. Anyways, thats alot of typing. We can still change our minds at this point in time, so browse through and see what you like.

Blondie and I have our current games in pathfinder so we are most familiar with this as well. Though I am fairly well versed in DnD 5e from watching youtube campaigns for fun. 5e seems very noob friendly as they refined a lot of rules to be less complicated.

Pathfinder: In my experience making a character is fun, but also can be very daunting for new players as there are so many rules and nuances that you have to figure out. Like calculating all of the stats and picking gear, traits, skills etc. So it might be helpful for us to roll up some pregenerated characters for anyone who doesnt want to make their own character.

Seems we have quite the interest generated here. We will have to work on some scheduling stuff too. Unfortunately I think it will be difficult to find a time when everyone can be available. We are scattered around the country, some of us work odd hours, and some of us have kids to contend with during east coast prime time.

Perhaps we can do a rolling adventure party with an adventure journal to keep people up to date if they miss a night. If we had a group large enough to always have 3-4 players every session then we could approach the campaign like we are an adventurers/heroes guild. They could take on contracts that might only span the length of one night, but the overarching story spans the length of the campaign. And if we had a scribe to draft a journal of the nights adventures then we could keep everyone informed as if we were all coming back to the headquarters to hear about each others adventures. I know this smacks of dungeon crawling as opposed to story driven, but its an idea.
Malachi Ravenscroft - Human Guardian | Loki Ravenscroft - Sylvari Mesmer
Mordecai Ravenscroft - Sylvari Necromancer | Theoden Ravenscroft - Human Ranger
Balrog Ravenscroft - Charr Warrior | Talon Ravenscroft - Charr Engineer
Charon Ravenscroft - Asuran Revenant | Thurl Ravenscroft - Asuran Elementalist
GW2 Chatid: Ravenscroft.3041

Its a good idea! And any good storyteller can definitely work with something like this in an overarching story. Its completely workable, and I've already got some ideas kinda floating around (and trust me, we can do this without constant dungeon crawling).

Now, when it comes down to character creation, I have a character generator sheet that actually works very well for this. Basically, you enter in alot of the basic info, and it adds all your bonuses, minuses, ect. Downside, you need some copy of excel so that you can run macros, but the character sheet creator works insanely well. This is going to be uploaded with the books, which, of course, I have ready to go on google drive right now. If you want immediate access, please PM me.

As for the time constraints, everyone is scattered across time zones, so what is prime time for eastern is actually early afternoon for me, and prime time for me is later evening for everybody else, so I think time wise things should work out fairly well. Its just finding times where everyone is available. If people could post up times that work best for them (I'm thinking between 8-9 PM EST Saturdays once to twice a month) then we can start working on how to make a schedule work for at least a couple of people at a time.

We're in Arizona, so what's prime time (7pm?) for Eastern time is mid-afternoon here too. Also worth noting that Arizona doesn't do DST, so part of the year, we're 3 hours off of Eastern and part of the year it's only 2.

5-11 PM EST Saturdays works once or twice a month. Plan to rely more heavily on Raven than on me, because I've got school.
