Some people might remember me complaining bitterly from the beta days, back when this game was both a sub fee and rather expensive and despite my love of Elder Scrolls... didn't provide enough to be worth that.

But I was convinced recently to try it again now that it and its bundle of DLCs are 50% off and there's no sub fee anymore! It's actually really fun so far—it was fun before, just not $60+sub fee fun—and while I haven't gotten to the point where I can do this ingame yet... I was poking at their housing system that they have now and it's actually really amazing how in-depth it is. And I've always been a big fan of immersive combat systems that make you pay attention with interrupts and blocking.

Anyway! A couple of us are running around right now on the Aldmeri Dominion side (there's just one big NA megaserver now). They also finally did away with race-locks so you aren't forced forever into a set three races based on your alliance! That costs actually money to upgrade with their version of the gem store, but at least it's possible.

But if you're interested, snag it while it's half off (Steam, the gold bundle) and join us. ♥

Tempting... But I don't know if I want another MMO in my life. Granted there's no sub fee, but... I haven't bought Stormblood yet either. Hmmm...

The only thing I remember about ESO is trying it in a pre-launch beta and not liking the clunky combat system, so that's a big strike for me personally.

Speaking as someone who had the exact same problem and a lot more in the beta I agree...! And they have gone a long way in fixing that. It feels more like Tera now and the tells/interrupt abilities are better. It's definitely still a weird combat system with very few active skills (coming from FFXIV with 110004545738 skills to prioritize), but honestly it's not much less than in GW2. It forces you to be more clever in how you morph what skills you do have.

Definitely not something I recommend as "THIS IS THE BESTEST MOST FUN MMO", but for casual play and world exploration when you're feeling burnt out it's been nothing but fun and absolutely worth the $30. ($17 if you don't want to snag any DLC.) I really want to see how the revamped PVP is as well when I get higher level because I actually liked it a lot in beta.

Cav and I just started playing the other day and have some Aldmeri Dominion lowbies and I just got a couple other friends to rejoin on the Ebonheart side. Which honestly--their lore? The scrappy rebel freedom fighter feel? Kind of more my shindig anyway now that I remember the game. But I'm honestly not picky. So I'll probably have characters on both.
